Jon Fox-Rubin is an innovative leader who guides people to realize their dreams.

Jon is a serial entrepreneur who's led multiple award-winning organizations. With a deep background in engineering sciences, a passion for interdisciplinary teams, and the ability to craft creative solutions to vexing problems, you'll want Jon on your team!

Read on to discover why.

Jon was a "gearhead" at Aspen High School, and won the state of Colorado's automotive skills contest with the prize being a scholarship to Wyoming Technical Institute. After graduating from WTI and receiving his ASE certification, Jon worked as an automotive technician and a ski instructor to pay for his studies in mechanical engineering at CU Boulder. Jon also started doing research at the Cooperative Institute for Research in Environmental Sciences on CU's campus.

Upon earning his BSME—with honors—from CU, Jon worked at Dornier GmbH (now part of EADS) in Germany on a NASA Space Shuttle project. Jon then attended graduate school at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, where he earned both an MSME (focused on reducing cold-start emissions from spark ignition engines) and an interdisciplinary PhD (focused on air pollution abatement via quantifying automotive emissions) at MIT's Sloan Automotive Laboratory.

Jon then joined Rocky Mountain Institute which developed and then spun-off Hypercar, Inc., an advanced mobility company. Hypercar designed and developed the Revolution—a zero-emissions sport utility vehicle concept. Hypercar won the World Economic Forum's Technology Pioneer award in 2001, but capital markets were retreating and Hypercar couldn't properly capitalize to reach its production goals for the Revolution. As CEO of Hypercar, Jon led a pivot to focus on volume manufacturing of advanced thermoplastic composites and Hypercar became Fiberforge Corporation in 2002.

Fiberforge successfully developed and commercialized its innovative production process along with field-of-use licenses for automotive, industrial, outdoor recreation & aerospace markets. Fiberforge sold manufacturing equipment, engineering services, & structural composites to customers worldwide. Fiberforge sold equipment and production licenses to Tri-Mack and Oribi Composites who both utilize the technology producing advanced thremoplastic composites and then Fiberforge exited by selling its IP and equipment business to Diefenbacher GmbH, where it is a key product offering of theirs.

Jon formed FoxRubin Limited in 2013, and consults with firms and individuals in a variety of sectors including clean technology & energy, advanced materials & manufacturing, public policy, team building, and commercialization strategy. Jon helps clients with due diligence on new processes, advanced manufacturing, design considerations, materials sourcing, intellectual property protection, technology licensing, customer validation, market research, raising capital, strategic initiatives, diversity, equity, inclusion, & social justice.

In 2014 Jon was recruited to lead The Manaus Fund—as Executive Director—where he helped build Mountain Voices Project and spin off & then lead Valley Settlement—a nonprofit focused on engaging with immigrant families of the Roaring Fork Valley to improve their lives.

Jon has served as an elected official in the town of Basalt, CO and as a board member of numerous social justice non-profits including:

Mountain Family Health Centers—an innovative organization that provides integrated behavioral, dental, & primary care to patients regardless of their ability to pay.

Mountain Voices Project—a regional social justice organization with 29 institutional members committed to building people power as a force for good in the Roaring Fork and upper Colorado river valleys, and

Summit54—an education non profit that runs enrichment programs with the Roaring Fork School District to support elementary aged children from low-income families during summer.

The Savings Collabortive—an organization with a mission to make it easy to save now and build lasting wealth for future generations – within communities left outside mainstream banking.
